Angelo Ogbonna has shared how he thinks his West Ham United teammate Declan Rice has really changed this season.
It’s no surprise really. Dec has taken on much more responsibility after replacing Mark Noble as club captain in the summer.
The 23-year-old has been West Ham’s best and most consistent performer over the past three years.
Angelo Ogbonna is someone who has seen Declan Rice grow as a player, and a human being, over the past seven years.

Dec is very popular amongst his teammates as well…
Angelo Ogbonna has noticed a change in Declan Rice
The Italy international was speaking to reporters this afternoon and was asked about Rice’s rising influence at the club.
Ogbonna responded when asked about what he thinks of Rice as a player and captain, as quoted by Football.London:

Dec has always been a good guy, a really humble guy. This year, we have a few people in the dressing room that have seen him grow. Everyone has seen his potential.
Rice has clearly taken more of a leadership role on this season, both on and off the pitch.
He recently alluded to the fact that he needs to take on more responsibility during games as well.
The 23-year-old can be as good as he wants to be. He is already the best player in his specific position in the Premier League in my opinion.
And if he starts adding regular goals and assists to his game, he will become world-class, there’s no doubt about that.
Angelo Ogbonna has obviously noticed a big change in Declan Rice this season. And it’s great to see that he has taken the leadership role on board with ease.
