Rio Ferdinand seriously likes the look of ‘mad’ new West Ham star Gianluca Scamacca after his first Premier League goal for the Hammers.
Former West Ham hero Ferdinand has rubbed many supporters up the wrong way in recent seasons, particularly when championing captain Declan Rice for a move to Manchester United.

Whatever fans think of him, Ferdinand does still keep a close eye on West Ham and their progress.
David Moyes spent an unprecedented £170m on eight new signings over the summer.
And he finally ended West Ham’s 18-month search for a new striker with the £35m signing of Italy forward Gianluca Scamacca.
It has been a slow burn in the Premier League for Scamacca so far with Moyes drip-feeding the striker into the side.
In fairness to the Scot there were mitigating factors such as a lack of any pre-season matches as Sassuolo prepared to sell him to West Ham and then being struck down by a nasty virus for three weeks just as he was getting going at the start of the campaign.

Scamacca started only his second Prem game for West Ham at the weekend and scored a beautiful goal in a vital 2-0 win over Wolves.
That caught the attention of ex Hammer Ferdinand as he assessed the weekend’s action on his latest Five YouTube show.
“What a strike (from Scamacca),” Ferdinand said on his Five YouTube show.
“Mad strike. Yeah I like him as well… West Ham needed that.
“(Jarrod) Bowen was good as well, he needed that performance and goal.”
Jermaine Jenas was a guest on the show and he agreed with Ferdinand, adding: “Scamacca by the way, that strike…he’s nice.”
Let’s hope it is the first of many in a West Ham shirt for the Italian star.
