Picture shows how Hammers skipper Declan Rice reacted as Mark Noble turned up at a West Ham training session on Monday.
West Ham recently confirmed that Noble will return to the club in a newly created Sporting Director role from January.
The legendary Hammers figure has been hugely missed off the pitch and in the West Ham dressing room this season.
But he will return to the club in an official capacity on January 2nd 2023 after bringing the curtain down on his career as a West Ham player back in May after 550 senior appearances across 18 years in a Claret and Blue shirt.
West Ham have stated that Noble will ‘work closely in support of manager Moyes, as well as working with the Board of Directors, providing input, advice, and assistance across all aspects of the football operation’.
And Nobes will play a key role in transfers from January onwards, both in terms of recruitment and helping new arrivals settle in.
Rice has a lot more on his plate as the full club captain at West Ham since Noble’s retirement.
The Hammers skipper has always been a quick learner and he is visibly growing into the role after a shaky start – as was evident in the 2-0 win over Wolves at the weekend.
But he was certainly delighted by a surprise visit from his close friend on Monday.
A new picture shows how Rice reacted as Noble turned up at a West Ham training session ahead of the European clash with Anderlecht this week.
West Ham posted a picture of Noble attending the Hammers session at London Stadium on Monday.
And it is safe to say Rice was delighted as he bear-hugged his old pal.
“A special guest appearance at training today!” West Ham said alongside the picture.
“Something tells us Declan Rice was happy to see him!”
