An incredible Nayef Aguerd revelation shows West Ham United are getting a seriously top player as signing edges closer.
The transfer window opens in just over a week on June 10th and it seems David Moyes is not wasting any time with his big West Ham rebuild.
The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move for Rennes and Morocco centre-back Aguerd.
Yesterday Hammers News reported on a social media post from Aguerd’s Rennes teammate Martin Terrier – also a reported West Ham target – which appeared to be a goodbye.
And this morning Italian transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano provided an exciting update on West Ham’s move for Aguerd.
It has been widely reported that West Ham would be looking to Ligue 1 for signings this summer.
And that appears to be the case with Aguerd touted by the likes of The Evening Standard to be West Ham’s first signing of a busy summer.
Aguerd has been linked with the Hammers for a while now. But the lack of televised French football – and any real interest in it – here in the UK means most West Ham fans will not know too much about their alleged imminent signing.
But an incredible Aguerd revelation shows West Ham are getting a seriously top player.
According to football data experts WhoScored – formerly Opta – Aguerd really is a top drawer defender.
In a post on Twitter WhoScored revealed what is a quite simply stunning statistic for a defender in a top European league.
WhoScored state that Aguerd has only committed TWO errors leading to an opposition SHOT on goal across his 90 Ligue 1 appearances for Dijon and Rennes.
That’s not two errors leading to goals, which in itself would be a great stat.
No this is even more ridiculously impressive. Only two errors that resulted in a SHOT on goal for the opposition in 90 games for two clubs. That’s 8,100 minutes of football.
It is insanely good and shows just why West Ham are so keen to sign the 26-year-old.

Aguerd clearly possesses brilliant strength, agility, athleticism, timing, pace and aggression and seems to love doing his job – defending.
And crucially is a left-footed centre-back, an area West Ham need to address with Angelo Ogbonna likely to be playing his last season for the Hammers next term.
He will undoubtedly be a quality signing if the Hammers can get the deal over the line.
