'He wants the move' Fabrizio Romano delivers exciting Nayef Aguerd update as West Ham close on first signing

Transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano has delivered an exciting Nayef Aguerd update as West Ham close on their first summer signing.

The transfer window opens in just over a week on June 10th and it seems David Moyes is not wasting any time with his big West Ham summer rebuild.

The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move for Rennes centre-back Aguerd.

UEFA MUST STOP! NEW CHAMPIONS LEAGUE COULD RUIN FOOTBALL

Yesterday Hammers News reported on a social media post from Aguerd’s Rennes teammate Martin Terrier – also a reported West Ham target – which appeared to be a goodbye.

Well now we know why after Italian transfer guru Romano took to social media to bring West Ham fans the latest on the deal.

‘He wants the move’ says Romano in delivering an exciting Aguerd update as West Ham close on their first signing.

“West Ham are progressing in negotiations with Rennes to sign Nayef Aguerd as new centre-back,” Romano said on Twitter in an early morning update.

“Talks ongoing with positive feelings. Aguerd wants the move – up to the clubs.

“West Ham are optimistic but still waiting to complete the agreement.”

Romano’s exciting update comes after The Evening Standard – which has strong sources at West Ham – reported that Aguerd would be the club’s first signing of the summer and would spell the end of Issa Diop’s career.

Moyes has stated in several interviews that he faces a big rebuild at West Ham this summer.

“I see new players, I see a stronger squad, I see a change of the guard in some places because of what’s happening at the club (with players leaving),” the Scot said back in March.

“But that will be normal. We do have to make changes in the summer, we do need to look at how to move forward again.”

Aguerd is expected to be the first of several signings this summer with The Evening Standard also reporting this week that Moyes will get ‘substantial backing’ from owners David Sullivan, Daniel Kretinsky and David Gold.

Hammers News has planned out West Ham’s perfect summer transfer window of a super seven rebuild and it seems Moyes is closing on ticking the first signing off that list.
