Have Rennes teammates Martin Terrier and Nayef Aguerd dropped a social media hint over a double West Ham move?
That is the question some West Ham fans are asking this morning after posts on social media from the duo, who have both been linked with moves to east London.
The likes of 90Min have been reporting that talks have been held with West Ham said to be close to agreeing a deal with a ‘willingness on both sides’ to get it done.
In an exclusive report, Claret and Hugh claim Aguerd flew into London last week for a ‘clandestine’ meeting which looks set to seal the deal in making the Morocco star a Hammer.
West Ham have also been linked with Aguerd’s teammate, forward Martin Terrier.
The French attacker, who used to play for Lyon and Lille, has been linked with West Ham in the past – way back in 2017 (Football Ghana) – and as recently as this month on The West Ham Way podcast, as reported by ThisIsFutbol.
Operating either on the wing or more centrally this season, Terrier has impressed, scoring 21 goals and laying on three assists in 39 games (WhoScored).
So it is inevitable that social media posts from the pair overnight have tongues wagging in West Ham circles.
But have Rennes teammates Terrier and Aguerd dropped a social media hint over a double West Ham move?
Some Hammers fans think so. But others believe the opposite.
Hammers Twitter account – West Ham News and Views – spotted that Terrier had posted what they think could be a goodbye message from Terrier and Aguerd on Instagram.
“Rennes forward Martin Terrier has posted this on his Instagram,” West Ham News and Views posted alongside a screenshot of the posts from Terrier and Aguerd which show a picture of the duo celebrating together.
“It looks to potentially be a goodbye post to Nayef Aguerd.”
In the post Terrier says: “The picture speaks for itself meme.”
To which Aguerd replied with a heart emoji saying: “You already know everything.”
The posts have sparked debate among some West Ham fans over whether it is a cryptic goodbye from Terrier to Aguerd, a farewell from both to Rennes or even a message to Rennes that they are staying with the French club.
We will find out either way soon enough.
