West Ham under-23 boss Mark Robson raves about teenager who's a 'massive, massive threat'

West Ham under-23 manager Mark Robson has spoken very highly indeed of under-23 starlet Armstrong Okoflex.

The 19-year-old joined the Hammers in the summer on a free transfer from Celtic.

And he has already made a huge impression at the London Stadium. He would have caught the eye of David Moyes already.

The West Ham boss included Okoflex in his squad for our pre-season games.

Unfortunately he wasn’t registered for the Europa League and cannot be called up to the squad as he doesn’t count as a home-grown player.

He will just have to make a name for himself for the under-23s. And he has already done that emphatically this season.

West Ham under-23 coach Mark Robson raves about Okoflex

The 19-year-old has already caught the eye of the new Hammers youth-team manager.

Robson told WHUFC.com just how much of a threat the Dublin-born youngster can be:

“Armstrong played really well today. In the offensive third I thought he was a real threat and even in the middle part of the pitch, we were just talking about tidying up a little bit and moving the ball a little quicker. Sometimes you can’t beat two or three men – you need to move it, run and get it back further down the pitch – and I thought he did parts of that really well today. If he can add that to his game, and we can get him in areas where he’s one against one with people, he’s a massive, massive threat, and I thought he was good at that today.”

The former Celtic starlet really does seem to have something very special about him.

It will be a great thrill to watch the talented teenager progress and develop at the London Stadium over the course of the next couple of years.

West Ham under-23 coach Mark Robson singling him out for praise yesterday would have given him a real confidence boost.

Not that he needs it – he’s bagged 14 goals in 15 games for the under-23s so far this season!

If he remains grounded and applies himself properly, the sky will be the limit for Okoflex. And with Mark Robson, Stevie Potts and David Moyes keeping a close eye on him, he is in very good hands.
