West Ham United officials are said to be very unhappy after an UEFA announcement ahead of our Europa League clash with Freiburg.
The UEFA Europa League last-16 draw was made in Nyon on Friday, and West Ham pulled Freiburg out the hat – it will be the third and fourth times we’ve played them this season!
David Moyes and his Hammers players certainly shouldn’t underestimate Freiburg, who’ve won four, lost four and drawn three of their games since we beat them at the London Stadium.
The Bundesliga side are a very decent team, and it will undoubtedly be difficult for us out in Germany for the first-leg.
It seems as though we may have our work cut out at home as well, thanks to UEFA scheduling the second-leg for a 5:45pm kick-off.
That means that the stadium will not be as vociferous at it would have been had the kick-off been at 8pm. The fans will struggle to get there in time for kick-off, without taking the day off work.
And as a result, the club are apparently fuming with European football’s governing body…

West Ham fuming about UEFA announcement ahead of Europa League clash
The Hammers hierarchy are seemingly not happy one little bit about the UEFA announcement.
Sean Whtestone – a reporter close to Hammers owner David Sullivan – claims that a senior West Ham source has shared just how unhappy the club are with UEFA scheduling the second-leg of our Europa League knockout tie with Freiburg for a 5:45 kick-off:
West Ham are right to be furious about this. What an absolute joke of a decision from UEFA it is to have our game kicking off around the time most people finish work.
We have been on the wrong end of plenty of bad decisions from the Premier League this season, and now UEFA are at it!
Let’s just hope that West Ham have enough in the locker to beat Freiburg in the Europa League, regardless of the ridiculous 5:45pm kick-off time for the second-leg.
