Michail Antonio was in absolutely stunning form for West Ham United against Freiburg in the Europa League last night.
West Ham beat Freiburg 5-0 in the Europa League at the London Stadium, and Michail Antonio rolled back the years with a scintillating performance.
The 33-year-old took to X ahead of the return leg last night and insisted that the Hammers were still well in the tie, and he was proven 100% correct in the end.
Hammers boss David Moyes started him against Freiburg last night, and the Jamaican set the tone for what was a top-class performance all around from the team.
Antonio’s inclusion on the team-sheet in place of midfielder James Ward-Prowse was a surprise to many last night.
The 29-year-old, signed from Southampton for £30 million in the summer (Sky Sports), has actually been in poor form of late, and has been shoehorned out of position on the left wing at times.
Now he may well find it hard to get back into the side…

Michail Antonio was brilliant for West Ham vs Freiburg
The 33-year-old was a constant terror for the Freiburg defenders at the London Stadium last night – he never gave them even a minute of peace.
It was a performance that deserved a goal or two, or an assist at the very least.
Antonio put in the kind of performance that proves statistics mean absolutely nothing, because he didn’t do anything of note on the stats sheet.
However, those who watched the game would have seen just how influential he was to our win and the attacking performance of the team on the whole.
He held the ball up exceptionally well, and brought his teammates into play when we were slightly under the cosh early on in the game.
Michail Antonio ran in behind the Freiburg back-line on multiple occasions, and the West Ham forward used his pace to really stretch the opposition, providing more space for the likes of Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus to work their magic.
It was a really strong reminder of how much he still has to offer us, and Antonio playing came with the added bonus of Jarrod Bowen moving out to his best position in the right wing.
A scintillating performance all around from the striker – absolutely top-class Mikey! The West Ham fans would have been buzzing with the former Nottingham Forest man’s display. However, Ward-Prowse may well be very worried now about his prospects of regular first-team football.
