West Ham United play host to Bundesliga outfit Freiburg in the Europa League last-16 second-leg clash tonight.
Freiburg beat West Ham United 1-0 in the first-leg of the Europa League tie out in Germany last week, so the boys have it all to do tonight.
David Moyes will be keen for his players to start the game quickly tonight – he said as much when speaking to the press yesterday.
This game is an absolutely vital one for Moyes and his players. Win it, and we’ll progress through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League – something that would be a big achievement for us.
Despite the sheer volume of top quality teams remaining in the competition, anything can happen in the last eight of knockout football.
Tonight will certainly not be easy, far from it in fact, especially if the London Stadium is not sold out. And with that in mind, the German media are trying to stoke the fire before the game…
German media warn West Ham fans ahead of Freiburg clash
German media outlet BILD have run a feature about the West Ham vs Freiburg clash at the London Stadium tonight.
And BILD have highlighted how much West Ham are struggling with selling tickets for tonight’s game.
The German publication claim that Freiburg fans could end up taking over the London Stadium, in what was an ominous warning for the Hammers supporters.
Back on Monday, West Ham had sold just 49,000 odd tickets for the Freiburg game, although that figure now is believed to be closer to 54,000.
We’ve just got to hope that there is a late rally from the Hammers fans, and we end up selling out the London Stadium.
The players need the fans behind them tonight – there is no telling just how much it will help them if the place is absolutely rocking in the stands.
I think we’ll have more than enough to beat the Germans tonight. If our players turn up and put in 100% effort, I just don’t see how we won’t go through to the next round. COYI X
