You won’t believe 3 names David Moyes mentioned when asked if he’ll sign new striker in January

West Ham United manager David Moyes has been speaking to reporters about potentially signing a new striker in January.

David Moyes has to bring a new striker to West Ham in the January transfer window in my opinion, if we are to make some genuine progress as a team.

The Hammers manager currently has a really concerning selection of strikers at his disposal – including Danny Ings who apparently could be shipped out of the London Stadium in January.

The we have good old Michail Antonio, who has been out injured since mid-November after suffering an injury whilst on international duty with Jamaica.

Finally, we come to 19-year-old Divin Mubama. Now, I love the teenager and rate him very highly, but it’s too soon for him to come into the side and start playing regularly up front.

Moyes obviously doesn’t rate Ings or Mubama that highly, because he’s been playing right winger Jarrod Bowen in place of Antonio ever since the 33-year-old got injured.

It’s clear to see for everyone who watches West Ham that Moyes should get a new forward through the door in January. But what does the Scot think about it?

Moyes surely must sign a new striker

The Scot spoke to reporters yesterday, before today’s Premier League clash with Wolves at the London Stadium.

And Moyes responded when asked if he will bring a new forward to the London Stadium this winter, as quoted by the Guardian:

“I don’t think we do. We’ve got Bowen, we’ve got Micky Antonio, we’ve got Danny Ings, we’ve got young Divin. It’s not numbers we need.”

My word, that really is very worrying to hear. It’s quite simply not the attitude that I want from my manager.

Danny Ings? Do me a favour…he’s absolutely horrendous, and I never want to see him wear a West Ham shirt ever again.

He has bagged just three goals in 37 games for the Hammers and he has been the first player down the tunnel in recent away games. Not good enough at all, and he should be sold next month.

Then we have Mubama. For Moyes to suggest that he’s a centre-forward option for us, having given him just 164 minutes of action in all competitions this season (Transfermarkt) really is disingenuous.

It’s just not acceptable from our manager. The only thing that I hope is that David Moyes is playing it cool and not letting the world know that we’re in the market to sign a new striker in January.

If West Ham do end up bring a new centre-forward to the club this winter, I’ll hold my hands up and say well played Moysie. I’ve seen this film before though, and I know how it ends unfortunately.
