Wolves could now try to sign ex-West Ham striker Andy Carroll on a free transfer as their move for Diego Costa seems to have hit a dead end.
That’s according to a report from The Telegraph who claim that Wolves could now miss out on signing Costa after he was refused a work permit.

And as a result, they could now switch their attention to free agent Andy Carroll.
West Ham fans know the 33-year-old very well indeed.
The striker joined the Hammers initially on loan from Liverpool in the summer of 2012, before making his switch a permanent one the following year for around £15 million (BBC Sport).

Unfortunately for Carroll though, he really struggled with injuries during his time in East London.
The 6ft 4in hitman scored just 34 goals in 142 appearances for West Ham (Transfermarkt).
He finally left in the summer of 2019, linking up with former club Newcastle on a free transfer. Carroll has since gone on to play for Reading and West Brom but he is now a free agent.
And it seems as though the 33-year-old could be set for a move to yet another club…
Wolves eyeing Carroll after Diego Costa deal collapses
The ex-Chelsea man was all set to join Wolves but he got refused a work permit.
And as a result, The Telegraph claim that Bruno Lage is now eyeing a move to sign Andy Carroll.
It would actually be really interesting to see the 33-year-old back in the Premier League. He actually had a lot of talent but injuries really held him back at Upton Park and the London Stadium.

Wolves’ desperation for a new striker has all come about after new signing Sasa Kalajdzic suffered an ACL injury on his debut at the weekend.
So perhaps Carroll isn’t the wisest target for Wolves! Since the start of the 2014/15 season, the 33-year-old’s injury history makes for grim reading.
During that period, Carroll has missed 1268 days of action through injury (Transfermarkt). That really is bad isn’t it.
And if Wolves miss out on Diego Costa, they may well regret signing Andy Carroll as an alternative option.
