Who is the 24-year-old Ivory Coast international West Ham apparently could sign for just £4.4 million in January?
West Ham United reportedly now want to sign talented Metz defender Koffi Kouao in the January transfer window.
That’s according to a report from Foot Mercato who claim that Hammers boss David Moyes has added him to his January shortlist.
Bringing a new right-back to the London Stadium in January will be absolutely vital for Moyes, if we are to have any chance whatsoever of enjoying a successful 2022/23 season on all fronts.
Vladimir Coufal and Ben Johnson have regressed badly over the last 12 months, and as a result, West Ham are now really weak in the right-back position.

Signing a top-class right-back in January could be key to his hopes of doing just that…
Who is Ivory Coast international West Ham could sign?
Foot Mercato reckon that the Hammers have added 24-year-old defender Koffi Kouao to our shortlist for the January transfer window.
The Ivory Coast international only joined Metz in the summer, and has already really impressed with the Ligue 2 outfit.
So much so that his stay with the club could be a short-lived one.
Africa Top Sports reckon that Kouao could be picked up for just €5 million (£4.4 million) in January.
So who is he and what could he bring to West Ham?
Kouao was born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast in May 1998. He began his youth career with Asec Mimosas in Ivory Coast way back in 2016, before moving to Vizela in Portugal in 2017.

The 24-year-old remained there until 2022, before he joined Metz.
The Metz ace is at his best when operating as a wing-back and has power and pace in abundance. This is the kind of signing that I can get behind.
I would take Kouao all day long over the likes of Emerson – a player who has reached his full potential and is clearly not built for the Premier League.
The Ivory Coast international who West Ham could sign this winter is fairly unheralded and unproven in the Premier League, but he is cheap and has a really high ceiling. Signing him would be symptomatic of the ‘moneyball’ philosophy. And that is one that I think West Ham need to adopt more often, as we struggle to compete financially with the Premier League’s richest clubs.
Koffi Kouao is an interesting name to be linked with us. The last player we signed from Metz was Diafra Sakho, so that certainly bodes well for us.
