What West Ham star Edson Alvarez has told Sky Sports about new signing Mohammed Kudus will have fans dreaming.

When West Ham technical director Tim Steidten came back from Amsterdam with Edson Alvarez fans were delighted.

Supporters never dreamed the Hammers would return to successfully raid Ajax for a second time in as many weeks for the hugely coveted Mohammed Kudus.

The Ghana star was linked with West Ham as far back as October last year – as first reported by Bild and covered here on Hammers News at the time.

But with Manchester United, Spurs, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund and – late in the day – Saudi clubs also interested, Hammers fans could be forgiven for doubting whether Kudus would end up at the London Stadium.

He did, though, much to the delight of everyone connected with West Ham.

And nobody is happier than Kudus’ former Ajax teammate who he has now been reunited with at West Ham.

‘I cannot wait’

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Kudus’ expected debut at Luton Town, Alvarez has absolutely raved about Kudus, saying West Ham have pulled off a truly brilliant signing.

And the Mexican promises West Ham fans they are in for a real treat.

“I’m super happy he’s here,” Alvarez said.

“I’m looking forward to training and playing again with him. I cannot wait to link up with him again.

‘The fans can expect big things’

“I know what he can bring to the team and what he can show in England. He’s a very talented player and a very good guy.

“The fans can expect big things (from Kudus).

“He has very good qualities with the ball. He’s very strong and can turn very easily. He loves the ball and likes to play. He’s very good in combinations and understands football really well.

“I saw him again for the first time on Tuesday and he’s looking forward to getting going and showing what he can do in the best league. Of course, like me it’s also important for him to adapt to the Premier League but I’m sure he will adapt very quickly.”
