What The Times claims Mikel Arteta has told an Arsenal star will be music to West Ham’s ears ahead of the summer window.

West Ham and Arsenal are sharing plenty of column inches right now given the situation surrounding Declan Rice.

But the beloved West Ham skipper is not the only player being linked with a switch between the Hammers and the Gunners.

West Ham have been linked with Reiss Nelson and have a reported longstanding interest in defender Kieran Tierney too.

A couple of months ago 90 Min claimed West Ham boss David Moyes wants to sign Arsenal’s back-up left-back, who turns 26 on Monday.

Tierney has hardly had a look in since Arsenal signed Oleksandr Zinchenko last summer.

And West Ham must be prioritising the addition of a top-class left-back in the forthcoming transfer window with ageing Aaron Cresswell winding down on his career and Emerson proving somewhat hit and miss.

As a result, Moyes’ links to his fellow Scot are understandable.

So, what The Times claims Mikel Arteta has told Arsenal star Tierney will be music to West Ham’s ears.

According to the report Tierney has held talks with Arteta over his situation at Arsenal.

And the Spaniard has told the alleged West Ham target he can leave when the window opens for domestic deals on June 14th.

The problem for West Ham is that both Aston Villa and Newcastle are also being linked.

A sensible move for all parties?

If the Hammers can secure Europa League football by winning the Conference League on Wednesday night, that will undoubtedly help when competing for his signature.

The ex-Celtic star could be the ideal long-term successor to Cresswell at West Ham. He possesses blistering pace, is very strong in the tackle and is very good defending one-on-ones.

As an attacking threat he also possesses a wicked delivery too, something West Ham sorely miss when Cresswell does not play – as Moyes has admitted himself.

With Arsenal interested in Rice, perhaps Tierney could be the one included in any deal between the two clubs. It would certainly be a move that suits all parties.
