What every January 2026 transfer window signing actually said about joining West Ham

West Ham United were certainly one of the more active Premier League clubs during the 2026 January transfer window.

Supporters may not be delighted about the exact business that West Ham United conducted during the 2026 January transfer window, but the club did at least make new signings.

Five of them, to be exact, although only four of those are first team additions.

We all love the club to bits, but let’s be real – what would you have to tell a new signing to convince them to join?! 😔

Indeed, Taty Castellanos, Pablo Felipe and Adama Traore all made the move to east London as Nuno Espirito Santo looks to drag his side up the table.

Keiber Lamadrid, meanwhile, joined on loan and is expected to operate in the U21s.

A hectic month has now come to an end, so Hammers News has looked back on what each new signing said about signing for the club.

Pablo Felipe

The month started with a bang when West Ham signed Pablo Felipe from Gil Vicente for a reported £17.5million.

In the early stages of his career at the club, Pablo has impressed West Ham United fans.

However, it remains to be seen if he can score the goals required to keep West Ham up between now and the end of the season.

Upon signing for the club, Pablo said: “I am very happy. I will give my all for this Club, leaving everything on the pitch, all my effort, all my dedication.

“The fans really like players who fight for the badge, and I can promise that I will leave every last drop of sweat on the pitch for this Club.

“I want to send a strong message that I have come to prove my worth. I know I am a young player, but I know that at this Club you have to give your all, and we have to give our best for the Club and for our teammates.”

Would you take relegation if it meant that David Sullivan would leave?! 🤔

Not a nice position to be in – but what would YOU choose if you had to?

Taty Castellanos

Shortly after his arrival, West Ham signed Taty from Lazio for a fee believed to be worth around £27million.

The Argentine international is already off the mark for the club, having scored a late winner against QPR in the FA Cup last month.

Still, the goals have since dried up and while Taty has impressed at times, West Ham do need more from him.

His opening message read: “I’m really happy because it’s a very important challenge for me personally and I’ve come to contribute, to try to help the team as much as I can,” said Castellanos.

“Every match is a battle, and I’m here to contribute that, to try to bring that energy, that fighting spirit I have inside, so that every match is as important and as tough as possible.

“I hope to give my all to the fans. I’ve always defended the jersey of every team with the utmost responsibility, and I want to tell them that I’m going to give everything, to defend this jersey, and obviously, to achieve our goals day after day. That’s the most important thing.”

Keiber Lamadrid

It will be interesting to see how Keiber Lamadrid’s career unfolds.

Lamadrid joined West Ham on loan from Deportivo La Guaira, although the deal is believed to include an option to buy.

The winger is a Venezuelan international but is not expected to feature in the first team under Nuno when he is up to full fitness.

As such, one could forgive Irons fans for not being too excited just yet.

A worrying development as another Hammers starlet leaves! 😟

Why do YOU think Adiele and Sowunmi both departed? What needs to CHANGE?

Emeka Adiele of West Ham United looks on during the warm up prior to the Bristol Street Motors Trophy match between Reading and West Ham United U21 at Select Car Leasing Stadium on August 20, 2024 in Reading, England.

Still, Lamadrid himself was delighted with the move and said: “I thank God first of all, and all the people who helped me get here. I also thank my family, who always supported me. For me, it’s a dream to be here.

“I’m excited to grow as a person, as a player, and I want to do well at this Club. I want to adapt as quickly as possible, to continue growing as a player and open doors again for Venezuelan football. Nothing is impossible.”

Adama Traore

Traore has joined West Ham for around £2million from Fulham, having previously worked with Nuno at Wolves.

The former Barcelona youngster is perhaps not as highly rated as he used to be, but Nuno does hope Traore can help steer West Ham away from relegation.

Traore, who made his debut for West Ham in their defeat against Chelsea on Saturday, believes the club can achieve their aim of remaining in the Premier League.

After his move was confirmed, he said: “I’m so happy to be here, so happy to help the team the maximum I can and show my quality.

“I’ve been seeing West Ham for a long time. It’s a massive club, a massive fanbase. I’ve been watching since I was young, when I watched a film about West Ham. I know about the fans and how much passion they have.

“My mentality is always to do better. It’s always to improve as a player, to help the team as much as I can and I always say, if I’m the same person as yesterday, it’s one day lost.

“I love the challenges. I think, of course, we have to go game by game. And this is what we’re going to do, trying to do our best. I think everything comes from belief. And I believe we’re going to achieve what we’re looking for.”

Axel Disasi

Axel Disasi became the final player signed by West Ham during the January transfer window.

Disasi has joined on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season and while there is no option or obligation to buy, it’s understood that West Ham have paid around £1.7million to complete the deal.

At the final hour, Disasi’s complicated loan move to West Ham was complete and his opening message read: “I’m very happy to be here, to have this opportunity.

“I’m just ready to fight and to play games.

It’s not too long ago that Axel Disasi snubbed West Ham – so what has changed? 👀

To be fair, it won’t matter if he keeps us up 😂

“Everyone knows my situation in the last few months, so I just want to get back on the field, feel the sensation of games and help the team.

“The Club has given me the opportunity to show my quality on the pitch. I spoke with all the people here, and I feel that they really wanted me, so that’s why I’m here today.

“It’s an exciting challenge. We know that the Club is not at the place that it should be, but I’m here to help the team and to bring what I can to achieve our goal.”
