West Ham United finally got a deal over the line for Axel Disasi on Deadline Day.
Indeed, at long last, Disasi has joined West Ham United on loan for the rest of the season from Chelsea.
A straight loan move from a London rival looked like an easy deal to do on paper, given the Blues had not used the defender all season.
However, and it will be of no surprise to West Ham fans, but the deal dragged on until way after the deadline had passed on the final day of the window.

I'm not going to lie, I'm underwhelmed…
The Irons officially announced the deal at close to midnight on Deadline Day and more insight has now emerged.
West Ham had to reschedule Axel Disasi’s medical several times
At one point, the deal looked to be off.
Disasi’s move to West Ham was initially cast into doubt, amid rival interest from AC Milan.
West Ham fans did at one point look to be facing up to the very prospect of not signing a defender of any description during the window.
According to The Guardian, the former Monaco defender did take some convincing to join the Irons this month.
The report adds that talks over personal terms dragged on and that Disasi’s medical had to be rescheduled several times on a dramatic day.
We all love the club to bits, but let’s be real – what would you have to tell a new signing to convince them to join?! 😔
Why Axel Disasi wanted to sign for West Ham United after previously rejecting them
Disasi rejected a move to West Ham in 2025, but here he is six months later.
The player himself spoke of feeling wanted during talks with the club, hence his reason for signing. Some may be cynical about that given the fact personal terms reportedly dragged on, but Disasi is within his rights to get himself the best deal possible.

Hammers News also understands that Jean-Clair Todibo’s red card against Chelsea was also a factor in changing Disasi’s mind.
With this compatriot now suspended for the next three games at least, the Blues loanee is understood to feel he’s got a strong chance of breaking into the first team rather quickly.
