West Ham’s new transfer masterclass on Chelsea is revealed after Jack Rosser and Fabrizio Romano claims overnight.
David Moyes has previously insisted West Ham will be active in the transfer market right up until the window closes on September 1st (The Evening Standard).
The Hammers made their sixth signing of the summer with the capture of defender Thilo Kehrer this week.
The Hammers have been linked with a host of players with left-back, central midfield and attacking midfield said to be the manager’s key priorities.
West Ham have reportedly looked to London rivals Chelsea for transfer options in all of those positions.
The Hammers have been linked with Chelsea fringe players including Conor Gallagher, Armando Broja, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley.
It comes after West Ham raided Chelsea last summer to sign Kurt Zouma from the Blues for £29.5m.
The move for Zouma ended up being something of a saga with various demands over the fee and the player’s wages putting the deal in jeopardy.
West Ham threatened to pull out and pursue other targets – namely Nikola Milenkovic at the time – and suddenly Chelsea and Zouma’s representatives played ball and got the move done on the Hammers’ terms.
Moyes had been linked with a move to sign Chelsea left-back Emerson but pulled out earlier this week as the Blues and Emerson’s agents demanded more money.
Yesterday, though, the move was suddenly back on again, though.
Moyes confirmed in his pre-match press conference he is pushing to sign a new left-back when asked about Emerson.
And now West Ham’s new transfer masterclass on Chelsea has been revealed after Jack Rosser and Fabrizio Romano claims overnight.
The Hammers have pulled off another Zouma on Chelsea by threatening to walking away from the deal.
Because it has forced the Blues and Emerson’s agents to come crawling back to the Hammers cap in hand.
“West Ham back in for Emerson,” says The Sun reporter Rosser.
“Ended talks earlier this week but his agents came back prepared to accept the club’s terms if a fee can be agreed with Chelsea.
“Add-ons a sticking point at the moment but could develop over the weekend.”
And Italian transfer reporter Romano revealed the deal is close to being sorted at the original fee proposed by the Hammers.
“West Ham are finally closing on deal for Emerson Palmieri with Chelsea,” Romano said.
“Clubs prepared to seal agreement for £13m plus £2m* fee, permanent deal with Emerson discussing personal terms.
“There are some details to be clarified over the weekend before deal done.”
