West Ham will hold talks to sign Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin

West Ham United are allegedly eyeing a move to sign Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to a report from The Sunday Mirror (May 29th, page 77) who claim that the Hammers are set to hold talks with Madrid about signing the 23-year-old Ukrainian stopper.

David Moyes looks set to finalise the permanent signing of Alphonse Areola from Paris Saint-Germain according to The Times.

However, with David Martin having been released, Darren Randolph likely to be sold (Claret and Hugh) and Lukasz Fabianski entering his final year at the London Stadium, signing another goalkeeper may well be a wise move from West Ham.

And it seems as though that’s exactly what Moyes plans to do…

West Ham eyeing summer swoop for Andriy Lunin

The 23-year-old is allegedly firmly on the Hammers’ radar ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Sunday Mirror (May 29th, page 77) claim that West Ham are set to hold talks with Real Madrid about bringing the Ukrainian stopper to the London Stadium before the start of next season.

Madrid would allegedly prefer to send Lunin to West Ham on loan although they could compromise a loan deal with an option to buy.

The 23-year-old joined Madrid in 2018 but has only made five senior appearances for Los Blancos.

A move away from the Bernabeu is obviously needed for the young Ukrainian goalkeeper in order for him to get somer regular action under his belt.

It has to be said though, he definitely won’t be getting that at West Ham next season, if we do sign Areola permanently.

Lunin is a very good goalkeeper but a move to a club that needs a number one would surely make more sense.

He has a La Liga title, a Champions League and a Spanish Super cup to his name already – not bad for a 23-year-old.

Standing at 6ft 4in tall, Lunin cuts an imposing figure and is a very good shot-stopper indeed.

If he’s happy to come to the London Stadium and plays second fiddle to Areola, we would welcome him with open arms.

West Ham trying to sign Andriy Lunin in the summer transfer window just doesn’t make any sense to us whatsoever.

And we highly doubt that this will happen.
