West Ham will bid for Montpellier hitman Gaetan Laborde imminently according to a football journalist who has close links with Sky – J Montanelli.

There is a potential problem on the horizon for the Hammers, however.
France Bleu are reporting that Lyon have entered the race to sign the 27-year-old striker.
Montpellier are now allegedly asking for €20 million (£17 million) for the French striker given that at least two clubs are now chasing his signature (France Bleu).

Laborde would be a very smart addition for West Ham. He possesses very similar attributes to Michail Antonio.
West Ham to bid for Laborde
If we do imminently lodge a bid for the Montpellier ace as has been suggested by J Montanelli, let’s hope it is not a derisory one.
The Frenchman would be the ideal signing for David Moyes considering our budget.
Laborde is a hard-working striker. He’s far from prolific although he did bag 18 goals and nine assists in 43 games for Montpellier last season (Transfermarkt).

He has plenty of pace and power and the experienced Montpellier forward can play anywhere along the front-line.
£15-17 million for Laborde would be an absolute steal for West Ham.
He would certainly keep Antonio on his toes, that’s for sure.

With Lyon allegedly in the running now as well, however, this will be a tricky one to get done with just five days remaining before the transfer window slams shut.
