If the Scot fails to sign the 28-year-old Manchester United ace, however, Vlasic seems to be a more than adequate alternative.

West Ham in pole position for Nikola Vlasic

That’s according to Calcio Mercato journalist Daniel Longo:

And Eurostavka claims that the Hammers are ready to submit a €23 million bid for the 26-capped Croatian international.

Vlasic would be a very smart addition for West Ham this summer.

And if we manage to sign him for under £20 million, it really would be an exceptional piece of business from David Sullivan.

The 23-year-old has been in fine form in Russia scoring 12 and 13 goals respectively in his last two seasons with CSKA (Transfermarkt).

He is technically gifted and has an engine that will undoubtedly prove to be attractive to Moyes.

Vlasic would provide Moyes with a totally different option in the final third and the Croatian would offer the Hammers great strength in depth in the attacking midfield department.

Jesse would still be our first choice. If we can’t get him though, we would welcome Vlasic with open arms.
