West Ham want to sign Armando Broja from Chelsea above all else before transfer window closes, journalist claims

West Ham United are allegedly still eyeing a move to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja above all else this summer.

That’s according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown who told Give Me Sport that the Chelsea ace is still the one that West Ham want.

Hammers manager David Moyes has been chasing the Albanian forward all summer long (The Athletic).

Fabrizio Romano recently suggested that West Ham’s interest in the 20-year-old Chelsea striker ended after Moyes brought Gianluca Scamacca to the London Stadium though.

The Hammers actually had a £30 million offer for Broja rejected by Chelsea (Fabrizio Romano). We were all waiting with bated breath either for the Blues to cave in and lower their demands or for West Ham to go back in with an improved offer.

Alas, none of those things happened.

With Scamacca now at the London Stadium, Moyes’s need for a forward is not as urgent as it once was. It seems as though the Scot has far from given up on the idea of signing Broja, however…

West Ham still want Armando Broja

Daily Star journalist Paul Brown has told Give Me Sport that the Hammers are still very keen to prise the 20-year-old striker away from Chelsea this summer:

“I think Broja is the one that West Ham want. They’re not the only team in for him, but everyone is waiting to see what he decides to do by the end of the window. He’s clearly going to need to have another discussion with the Chelsea manager to decide his future.”

We would love Moyes to bring Broja to the London Stadium before the transfer window closes. Can you imagine the thought of a front two comprising of the Albanian and Scamacca!

He has been described as an ‘exceptional’ striker by The Athletic. Meanwhile, One Football label him as ‘lethal’. And Albania coach Sergio Porrini called him ‘devastating’.

Broja seems to be ideally suited to West Ham and considering the way in which he stretches the opposition with tireless runs into the channels, it’s easy to see why Moyes wants to sign him.

The Chelsea ace is strong, quick and is a really, really good finisher. Broja bagged nine goals and one assist in 36 games for Southampton during a loan spell at St Mary’s last term (Transfermarkt).

It is his all around game that has been the most impressive thing about him though. The way in which he holds up the ball with his back to goal and brings others into play has been truly magnificent to watch.

The striker absolutely tore the Hammers apart last season, bagging one goal and one assist in three appearances against us. He gave our defenders nightmares and was a total menace to our back line during all three clashes.

It’s easy to forget at times that the Albania international is just 20-years-old-old! It’s not often that someone of that age bags nine goals in a season.

Hopefully West Ham manage to get a deal done for Broja this summer. The Chelsea forward would undoubtedly take us to another level.
