West Ham United are keen to sign Leeds United loanee Sam Greenwood in the January transfer window, after his impressive form with Middlesbrough.
David Moyes desperately needs to bring some quality attacking reinforcements to West Ham in the January transfer window, and Greenwood, 21, might just be the man for the job.
The Hammers are set to lose up to four players to AFCON this winter, with three of them being attacking players.
We all know just how much we need a new striker, but Moyes’s preference in the past has been to sign versatile attackers who can perform multiple roles.
And Greenwood certainly fits into that category. He’s actually an attacking midfielder by trade, but he can operate as an auxiliary striker as well if need be.
I wouldn’t be against this transfer one little bit, and a report has emerged suggesting that the Leeds loanee is very much on the West Ham radar ahead of the January window…

West Ham eyeing Sam Greenwood swoop
According to a report from TEAMtalk, the Hammers could soon attempt to sign the young Leeds-owned starlet.
I think he could be a very useful addition for West Ham, especially with more homegrown players required at the London Stadium.
He began his career with Sunderland before moving to Arsenal in 2018 and finally Leeds two years later.
Greenwood is currently on loan with Middlesbrough, and has bagged four goals and two assists in 14 Championship games so far this season (Transfermarkt).
Boro, who are managed by former Hammer Michael Carrick, are currently within striking distance of the play-offs, so they certainly won’t want to lose Greenwood.
So it is suggested that a summer move to sign the 21-year-old is more likely for West Ham, especially if Middlesbrough fail to secure promotion to the Premier League this season.
I would take Sam Greenwood all day long at West Ham. He’s exactly the kind of player I like to see us sign – young, hungry and full of potential.
Whether we’re able to beat off competition for his signature remains to be seen though.
