West Ham United have already made some moves in the January transfer window.

Over the past four days, West Ham have completed deals for Pablo Felipe and Taty Castellanos.

However, more reinforcements will be required in the January transfer window, if beleaguered boss Nuno Espirito Santo is to pull off a miracle escape.

Nuno is well aware of West Ham’s current plight, and he has been urging the fans to stand by him and his players.

HEARTBREAKER! How are you feeling after Hammers 1-2 Forest 💔

The defeat which sends West Ham down?

Alphonse Areola of West Ham United comes out to attempt to punch the ball and collides with Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest to concede a penalty during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Nottingham Forest at London Stadium on January 06, 2026 in London, England.

There is a real dearth of quality in the Hammers squad right now and new faces are desperately required at the London Stadium.

With that in mind, the latest news will come as somewhat of a blow to the West Ham fans…

West Ham walk away from £22 million deal for electric star

The grim reality of relegation down to the Championship is beginning to set in at the London Stadium now.

Nuno obviously still wants to make a few more signings, after admitting that the squad he has available to him is a seriously ‘unbalanced’ one.

However, it seems like the Hammers have decided to pull the plug on a move to sign one of Nuno’s key targets.

According to a report from GE Global, West Ham had a £22 million bid for Kaio Jorge rejected by Cruzeiro.

However, only two weeks ago it seems like West Ham were intent on getting a deal for Kaio Jorge over the line.

Jorge is a seriously exciting 23-year-old centre-forward.

The Brazilian has bagged 33 goals and 11 assists in 69 games for Cruzeiro (Transfermarkt), and he has a seriously high ceiling.

West Ham pulling the plug on Kaio Jorge deal means one thing

The South American youngster would have been a terrific addition for the Hammers what with his stunning finishing ability, sensational movement and electric acceleration.

The good news is that West Ham have signed two strikers in the form of Taty Castellanos and Pablo.

However, it’s fair to argue that Kaio Jorge is on another level to those two.

However, the seriously concerning thing about West Ham pulling out of a deal to sign the 23-year-old is that the Hammers owners may well have accepted their fate.

What’s the point in throwing good money after bad? The more the club spends now, the harder it will be to bounce back from the Championship next season.

And that is a seriously grim thought for the West Ham fans to ponder.
