West Ham are one of the leading candidates in the race to sign Club Brugge ace Hans Vanaken according to a report from Voetbal24.
Hammer boss David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium in the January transfer window.
The additions of a top-class striker and an established centre-half next month will be vital if West Ham are to finish inside the top four this season.
If we manage to get those two signings done and dusted early though, Moyes may well look to make further additions. And it seems as though an attacking midfielder could be on the Hammers’ radar.
West Ham could sign Hans Vanaken in January
Voetbal24 claims that the Hammers hold a serious interest in signing the 17-capped Belgium international in January.
And what’s more, Voetbal 24 claim that Vanaken wants to join West Ham.
The 29-year-old has bagged eight goals and four assists in 24 games for Club Brugge this season (Transfermarkt). He racked up 16 goals and seven assists in 45 games last term.
Not bad for an attacking midfielder eh?!
Vanaken is a very good player and would be a useful addition for West Ham, especially given the fact that he is 6ft 5in tall! He could be available for around £13 million according to Sky Sports.
Sure, he won’t be a priority addition for Moyes. He could still be a very smart one though, as long as other areas are strengthened first.
West Ham are arguably the best in the Premier League when attacking set-pieces.
And the Club Brugge ace would make us an even stronger outfit from corners and free-kicks.
He is 29 though. So wouldn’t necessarily fit the profile of signings David Moyes usually makes. Only time will tell.
We believe that Vanaken would be a very good signing for West Ham and would provide Moyes with an option that he currently doesn’t possess in the attacking midfield department, what with his size and stature.
