West Ham United’s Head of Recruitment Rob Newman has identified Club America midfielder Pedro Aquino as a potential January signing according to a report from Aguilas Monumental.
Hammers boss David Moyes will be keen to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium in January.
The Scot will be prioritising the additions of a centre-forward, a left-back and perhaps even a centre-back and an attacking midfielder.
It seems as though the West Ham manager may have his sights set on strengthening in another position, however, on the advice of Head of Recruitment Rob Newman.
West Ham could sign Pedro Aquino after Rob Newman suggestion
The 26-year-old Peru international is on the Hammers’ radar according to Peruvian media outlet Aguilas Monumental.
Aquino is a really tenacious midfielder.
His playing style is quintessentially South American. He is a tough tackler and is most comfortable when sitting in front of the back four.
If the report is true, it must indicate that Newman and Moyes are not at all convinced by Alex Kral.
We’re just not sure whether to believe this one though.
Aquino has no experience of playing in Europe and at 26, he is no spring chicken.
The Peruvian is a good footballer. In fact, he is described as an ‘outstanding midfielder’ by Aguilas Monumental.
We just can’t see this one happening unless Kral’s move to the London Stadium isn’t made permanent in the summer.
There are certainly more proven players out there on the market. And it has to be said, Moyes really should be prioritising strengthening other areas of his squad in January.
If Rob Newman has recommended Pedro Aquino to David Moyes though, it wouldn’t be a total shock to see him rock up at West Ham at some point in the future.
