West Ham United allegedly could try to sell up to five first-team players in the upcoming January transfer window.

According to Claret and Hugh, five Hammers players face the chop this winter, and one of those is young right-back Ben Johnson.

However, it is suggested that injury concerns over Nayef Aguerd and Kurt Zouma could mean that David Moyes keeps the 22-year-old defender at the London Stadium.

The Scot is allegedly keen to raise funds in order to mount an assault on the transfer market in the January window.

West Ham spent big in the summer but as things stand, we appear to have gone backwards, with Moyes struggling to bed in all eight new faces.

That seemingly hasn’t deterred the 59-year-old Scot though, with further reinforcements planned in the January window.

But in order to bring in more new faces, some players will have to be moved…

Claret and Hugh reckon that a fire sale could be incoming at the London Stadium this winter.

One of the names who Moyes allegedly could part ways with is Ben Johnson, although given our current defensive injury crisis, he may well be kept on.

The 22-year-old burst onto the scene at the London Stadium as a teenager, and he actually began his Hammers career in really impressive fashion.

He has gone on to make 72 senior appearances for the Hammers, with 45 of those coming in the Premier League.

Worryingly though, he seems to have regressed over the past 12 months.

Johnson has really bad lapses in concentration that sometimes cost us dearly. However, he is still only young, and has plenty of time left to work on his weaknesses.

The key for Moyes and his coaching staff will be to get the absolute best out of Ben Johnson over the next year or so.

If they can’t do that and he fails to improve during that timeframe, it might be time to move him on next summer.

For now though, Moyes must keep the 22-year-old at the London Stadium.
