David Moyes is on the hunt for a new centre-back.

Nikola Milenkovic and Duje Caleta-Car appear to be the Hammers’ primary central defensive targets.

If moves to bring either of those players to the London Stadium prove to be problematic, however, Moyes could very well look elsewhere.

West Ham eyeing Takehiro Tomiyasu?

The 22-year-old Bologna ace is on the Hammers’ radar as a backup plan to Milenkovic and Caleta-Car according to a report from Cuorirosso Blu.

Obviously signing the Serbian and/or the Croatian should be our priorities.

If we miss out on them for any reason, however, the Japan international would be a fine alternate option.

In 29 Serie A outings last season, the defender averaged 1.4 tackles, 1.7 interceptions and 2.3 clearances per game. He also won an average of two aerial duals per match (Who Scored).

The 22-year-old is also very versatile, and can operate at centre-back or even in the deep-lying midfield position.

Tomiyasu is valued at around £15 million according to according to respected journalist David Ornstein.

That really does sound like outstanding value for West Ham.

Whether Moyes manages to bring any of his main targets to the London Stadium remains to be seen.

Should we move to sign Tomiyasu as a different option, however, the Hammers fans should not be disappointed. In fact, they should be the exact opposite.
