The Hammers boss is prioritising the addition of a new centre-back this summer according to Claret and Hugh.
The problem for Moyes, however is that he has limited funds at his disposal this summer.
A top class centre-back will cost West Ham a massive fee this summer. And with our desperate need for a centre-forward and a central midfielder as well, it might just not be possible to strengthen all three departments.
There is a solution, however.

West Ham ace Frederik Alves could save David Moyes millions
The 21-year-old Dane joined the Hammers from Silkeborg in January for a little over £1 million (WHUFC.com).
Whilst he hasn’t played any senior football for West Ham, he has really impressed for the under-23’s.
Alves has also earned rave reviews for Denmark’s under-21 side over the past few months, putting in a succession of assured displays at the heart of his country’s defence.
Now, the 21-year-old obviously doesn’t have any Premier League experience.
So a sensible move from Moyes would be to sign an experienced Premier League centre-back on loan this summer, similar to the deal that saw Craig Dawson join the club from Watford last year.
At the same time, the West Ham boss could promote Alves. He would then be able to learn alongside the likes of Dawson and Angelo Ogbonna.

The former Silkeborg ace possesses all of the attributes needed to succeed at the very highest level. He is physically strong, domineering in the air and is great with the ball at his feet.
He has impressive pace and positional sense as well.
The only thing he lacks is experience. He can gain that next season if Moyes gives him a chance.
