The Hammers’ desperate need for a new centre-forward has already been well-documented.

It really is remarkable that West Ham managed to finish sixth in the Premier League table with Michail Antonio as our only senior recognised centre-forward from January onwards.

That is history now, however. And what happens next is the most important thing.

David Sullivan wants striker signed, Moyes agrees

The Hammers co-owner is keen to bring Genk ace Paul Onuachu to the London Stadium this summer according to a report from All Nigeria Soccer.

And West Ham boss David Moyes has given his stamp of approval to the potential transfer.

We think that the Nigeria international would actually be a very smart addition for the Hammers.

The fact that Sullivan is allegedly driving the interest in the Genk hitman is a big concern, however.

Surely it should be Moyes who is identifying transfer targets?

It’s all well and good that the Scot has reportedly given his approval to the idea of Onuachu arriving in East London. But it shouldn’t be the case that he is being given names by the co-owner of the club.

That really isn’t how things should work.

Who knows…perhaps Onuachu will work out if we do indeed sign him. And Sullivan will look like a mastermind.

The majority of West Ham fans will surely be concerned about this potential development, however, regardless of how good the Nigerian could actually be for the Hammers.
