West Ham star Jarrod Bowen has been told to stay away from Liverpool by Reds legend Steve McManaman as transfer links persist.
Nobody epitomises David Moyes’s West Ham transformation more than bargain £20 million signing Bowen.
On his return to West Ham Moyes stated he wanted to rebuild the club around young, talented, hard-working players hungry to prove themselves.
And Bowen is the perfect example of that.

The former Hull City forward has become a huge fan favourite at West Ham with his work ethic, pace, trickery, goals, assists and attitude.
But Bowen has not just impressed Moyes and West Ham fans. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is a big fan too.
In the summer Liverpool were heavily linked with a move for the 24-year-old. Indeed The Sun claims West Ham actually rejected a bid from Liverpool, who – the report claims – remain interested.

And Klopp has hardly hidden his admiration for Bowen. Ahead of West Ham’s win over Liverpool before the international break, Klopp was singing Bowen’s praises.
Naturally that sparked a new raft of speculation linking the West Ham favourite with a January move to Anfield.
But now Bowen has been warned to stay away from Liverpool by Reds legend Steve McManaman.

McManaman appreciates Bowen as a player but insists he should stay at West Ham (Football London).
“He’s a very good player,” McManaman told Football London.
“He’s doing really well at the moment. But hypothetically, if he signed for Liverpool tomorrow, then he wouldn’t play. So, I don’t see the point of it at the minute.
“It could be a great move for him in terms of playing for Liverpool but he’s not going to get in ahead of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane or Diogo Jota…

“Bowen is playing really well at the moment for a club who are in the Champions League positions. Liverpool at the moment don’t need Jarrod Bowen.”
McManaman is refreshingly honest here and makes some salient points.
Sometimes players have to recognise when they have got a good thing going on.
And Bowen – like several of his high-flying Hammers teammates – certainly has that at West Ham.

The simple fact Bowen is being linked with Liverpool shows the player and West Ham are doing something right.
What it does also prove is that Moyes’s recruitment philosophy of first looking to the Championship for talent can seriously pay dividends.
