West Ham signing Gerard Deulofeu from Udinese in the summer transfer window is allegedly ‘firmly on the cards’.

That’s according to a report from Messaggero Veneto who claims that €20 million (£16.6 million) could be enough to get the deal done for the Hammers.

West Ham manager David Moyes will be a very busy man in the summer transfer window.

The Scot needs to bring a new striker, a centre-back, a left-back and a central midfielder to the London Stadium at the very least.

It could be argued that we need another attacking wide player as well with Andriy Yarmolenko set to be released when his contract with the Hammers expires.

And it seems as though Moyes has a plan up his sleeve…

West Ham signing Gerard Deulofeu a real possibility

Messaggero Veneto claims that the Hammers are firmly in the race to sign the 28-year-old winger.

In order to get the deal done, the East London outfit will have to pay around £16.6 million. We believe that the Spaniard would be a really good addition for West Ham, but only if Moyes addresses the striker, centre-back, left-back and central midfield weaknesses first and foremost.

Udinese paid around £14 million to sign him from Watford according to Football Italia. And Deulofeu has been a huge hit in Italy, bagging nine goals and two assists in 25 Serie A games so far (Transfermarkt).

He is highly experienced and has the ability to change a game with a moment of brilliance. The Spaniard possesses exceptional technique and has high energy levels.

Deulofeu can play anywhere along the front-line and that kind of versatility will undoubtedly appeal to Moyes.

He has been described as ‘sensational’ by the Independent.

West Ham ace Pablo Fornals is very close friends with Deulofeu, so it would be no surprise to see Moyes reunite the two Spaniards back together.

£16.6 million for the former Barcelona, Everton and Watford ace seems like very good value to us.

He would certainly add more pace and inventiveness to West Ham’s play in the final third.

As mentioned earlier though, David Moyes has far more pressing priorities than to sign another winger this summer…
