TalkSPORT host Andy Jacobs believes West Ham are on the verge of making a “decent signing” on transfer deadline day.
Nuno Espirito Santo wants a new defender at West Ham as his side have the worst defensive record in the Premier League.
They showed fighting spirit over the weekend, but ended up losing 3-2 against Chelsea at the London Stadium.
Pretend YOU call the shots – who are you signing on Deadline Day?! 🤑
Feel free to name one REALISTIC target and one DREAM addition 😂
Andy Jacobs reacts to update on West Ham pursuit of Axel Disasi
Alex Crook was on talkSPORT for their deadline day show on Monday afternoon, issuing updates on any last-minute deals.
He claimed that Disasi appears set to move to the London Stadium as he has been given permission by Chelsea.
The Hammers have been linked with a plethora of centre-backs all winter, but are yet to finalise a deal for anyone.
It looks like Disasi will be moving to West Ham in time before the transfer deadline, and it is a deal that Jacobs believes suits the club.
In his view, the French defender is better than Benoit Badiashile and will be a good option for the Hammers.
“He’s a decent signing. He’s better than Badiashile, surely,” said Jacobs on talkSPORT.
If you had to rate this signing between 1 and 5, what would you go for? 🤔
We're closing in on a defender, but is he the right one?! 👀
What Gary Lineker and Micah Richards said about Disasi
Back in February 2024, Chelsea and Manchester City played out a 1-1 draw in the Premier League.
In that game, Gary Lineker and Micah Richards were stunned by Axel Disasi’s efforts against the league’s best side.
Richards told Rest Is Football: “Disasi was fantastic.”
Lineker then went into some more detail, discussing his defending and positioning in the game.
He added: Disasi had some really good clearances; his positioning was really good on certain occasions in the game.”

How Nuno Espirito Santo will look to get the best out of Disasi?
Nuno Espirito Santo will get a physically imposing, ball-playing defender moving to the London Stadium.
With Disasi imperious in the air, the Portuguese will likely partner him with Jean-Clair Todibo, and the duo could bring the best out of each other at the heart of the Hammers defence.
His arrival could see West Ham becoming more of a possession-oriented team, and his leadership could see them having a better structure without the ball.
The French defender can also be deployed in a back three system, offering Nuno much-needed flexibility for the rest of the season.
