Hammers boss David Moyes will be a very busy man in the January transfer market. The Scot quite simply must bolster his ranks at the London Stadium if we are to remain in contention for a top four spot this season.

One area where West Ham need reinforcements in particular is the attacking department.

Specifically, Moyes needs to sign a big, powerful and pacy centre-forward. So it is perhaps a little surprising that diminutive Napoli ace Lorenzo Insigne has been linked with a move to the London Stadium.

With the Italy international approaching the end of his contract, he will undoubtedly be highly sought after property next month.

West Ham make Insigne enquiry ahead of January window

Insigne is an incredibly talented footballer. He is a gifted technician who possesses exceptional skill.

He currently earns around €5 million (£4.2 million or £80k-a-week) per year at Napoli according to Calciomercato.it.

The Italian bagged 19 goals and 12 assists in 48 games for Napoli last season and this term he’s racked up five goals and six assists in 18 matches (Transfermarkt).

Insigne, 30, would be an interesting addition for West Ham but questions have to be asked regarding his suitability to Premier League football given his tiny frame.

The Napoli star stands at just 5ft 4in tall and it could be argued that he would get bullied in England.

We just can’t see this one having any truth to it.

Not least because Moyes will surely be prioritising the additions of a powerful centre-forward and a centre-back in the January transfer window.

Insigne could be available on a free transfer in the summer though. Perhaps it would be worth taking the risk on him then.
