West Ham United are allegedly now interested in signing Toulouse forward Rhys Healey as a backup option.
That’s according to claims from Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth who claims that the Hammers are eyeing the 27-year-old forward as a potential backup option, should we fail to get a deal done for Hugo Ekitike before the January transfer window slams shut.
West Ham boss David Moyes desperately needs to bring another striker to the London Stadium before Monday’s 11pm deadline.

Michail Antonio is the only centre-forward option available to the Scot at the moment and that quite clearly isn’t acceptable for a club battling for a top four finish.
The 31-year-old has been absolutely brilliant for the Hammers over the past 18 months or so. Like any striker though, he has experienced dry spells in front of goal. And it’s up to Moyes and the West Ham owners to bring someone in to help ease the load on Antonio.
It seems as though the East London outfit are hell bent on getting a striker signing over the line before the window closes…
West Ham now in for Rhys Healey
The 27-year-old Toulouse forward is now on the Hammers’ radar according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth:
The Englishman has experienced somewhat of a journeyman career so far having played for the likes of Cardiff City, Colchester United, Dundee and MK Dons.
He joined Toulouse in the summer of 2020 and has really impressed, bagging 30 goals in 61 games (Transfermarkt).
This season, Healey has 15 goals in 21 Ligue 2 appearances for Toulouse to his name (Transfermarkt).
The 27-year-old is a hard-working forward and he obviously knows where the back of the net is.
Surely West Ham should be setting our sights higher than the Toulouse hitman though…surely. There are so many top-class strikers available out there who could take us to another level, if the owners are prepared to splash the cash.
Perhaps that’s the crux of the matter though. Have the Hammers owners got the ambition required to help take us to the next level? That is doubtful to say the least.
Let’s just hope that they surprise us over the next couple of days.
