West Ham could make a move to sign Blackburn striker Ben Brereton Diaz before the January transfer window closes according to a report from the Daily Mail.
Hammers boss David Moyes desperately needs to bring a top-class striker to the London Stadium in January in order to provide more competition and cover for Michail Antonio.
West Ham are flying high in fifth spot in the Premier League table at the moment. We are only one point adrift of fourth placed Arsenal.
The East London outfit also have a last 16 Europa League tie to look forward to in March and face Leeds in the FA Cup this weekend.
There is every chance that we could achieve some real success this season. In order to do just that though, the addition of a top-class striker will be paramount this month. And it seems as though Moyes has someone in mind to boost his centre-forward options.
West Ham eyeing January Brereton Diaz swoop
The Daily Mail reckons that the 22-year-old striker is on the Hammers’ radar this month.
We think that the Blackburn striker would be a superb addition for West Ham.
The Blackburn striker has been in sensational form so far this season with 20 goals in 25 Championship appearances to his name (Transfermarkt).
After struggling during the early years of his career, it seems as though he has received a real confidence boost from being included in the Chile squad.
Brereton Diaz has great movement, impressive physical attributes and is a fantastic finisher. The Sun reckons that he will be available for around £25 million.
That seems like a fairly extortionate fee to pay for someone who is out of contract in the summer of 2023. Perhaps if Blackburn lowered their demands to £15-20 million it would be a fairer price to pay.
And if Moyes manages to bring him to the London Stadium for that kind of money, we think the Chile international could end up being a great addition for West Ham.
