West Ham United are lining up a move to sign Edson Alvarez when Declan Rice eventually leaves the London Stadium.
That’s according to football journalist Graeme Bailey who told Loaded Mag’s Fully Loaded Transfer Show on YouTube that Alvarez is one to keep an eye on, with Rice set to join Chelsea in the summer.
Losing Rice will be a big blow to stomach for West Ham, but it is an outcome that most West Ham fans have come to terms with now.

That won’t make it any easier to accept but the important thing will be getting in a top-class replacement for Dec. And the good news is that it seems as though Moyes has a truly elite player in mind…
West Ham eye blockbuster deal for Edson Alvarez
Graeme Bailey has told Loaded Mag’s Fully Loaded Transfer Show on YouTube that Alvarez is someone to keep an eye on for Hammers fans:
I think Alvarez is one to keep an eye on. West Ham are looking at him because Declan Rice is going to leave for Chelsea in the summer.
Edson Alvarez is one of the very best defensive midfielders in world football in my opinion, and I think he will be a great replacement for Rice, when the 23-year-old inevitably leaves.
Alvarez has been described as ‘unstoppable’ by ESPN.

In 12 Eredivisie outings this season, the 25-year-old has averaged 2.3 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 2.5 clearances per game. He has made 60 passes on average per game and has recorded a completion rate of 87.8% (Who Scored).
The Ajax ace has also bagged two assists during those outings. Alvarez can play in the centre-back position as well as defensive midfield.
The Mexico international is a player destined for the very top. And he seems primed to make the move from the Eredivisie to the Premier League.
Edson Alavrez could be available for around £40 million (Evening Standard), and if West Ham manage to get at least double that amount for Declan Rice, I actually think it would be good business from the club.
