West Ham United are actually considering selling Nikola Vlasic for a huge £18 million loss this summer.

According to a report from Tuttosport, Torino are now willing to pay no more than €9 million (£8 million) to sign Nikola Vlasic on a permanent deal from West Ham.

Torino originally had an option to sign the 25-year-old from the Hammers for just £11 million.

However, finances are tight at the Turin club, and with so many players on loan there this season, manager Ivan Juric needs to be selective which with players he brings in permanently in the summer.

West Ham boss David Moyes brought the Croatian international to the London Stadium from CSKA Moscow back in the summer of 2021 for around £26 million (Sky Sports).

And it seems as though the Hammers chief could let him go for a huge loss before the start of next season…

Nikola Vlasic could leave West Ham on the cheap

Tuttosport claims that Torino have informed the Hammers that £8 million is the maximum fee that they’re willing to stretch to for the Croatia international this summer.

And West Ham have allegedly told the Serie A side to wait for a response. That means that the powers that be at the London Stadium are considering the deal proposed by Torino.

I feel like selling Vlasic for an £18 million loss could be a really big mistake from the Hammers.

Sure, the 25-year-old struggled to impress for West Ham during the 2021/22 campaign, but it wasn’t entirely his fault.

Moyes’s refusal to play him in his correct position was mind-boggling. Vlasic was shunted out on the left wing last season whenever he was given a chance – a role that he is totally unsuited to because of his lack of pace.

Had Moyes used the Croatian centrally just in behind our main striker, he may well have succeeded in the claret and blue. And who knows, if the Scot is prepared to admit his mistake and give Nikola Vlasic a proper chance in the number 10 role next season, there still may be a future for him with West Ham.

I just can’t see that happening though, and fully expect the former CSKA Moscow man to leave the London Stadium on a permanent basis this summer.
