Hammers boss David Moyes has already brought four new players to the London Stadium this summer – Levi Laing, Pierre Ekwah Elimby, Armstrong Okoflex and Thierry Nevers.

All of those names were signed with one eye on the future, however. It is highly unlikely that any of them will play key roles for the club this season.

It seems as though the East London outfit are close to making their first senior signing of the summer, however.

West Ham close in on Areola

The Evening Standard reckon the Hammers are in talks to sign the 28-year-old on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Talks are thought to be progressing well.

Areola would be a great addition for West Ham.

The Frenchman is a fine shot-stopper. He is calm and authoritative and is a very good organiser. Areola is very good with the ball at his feet as well.

He really impressed during a loan spell with Fulham last season.

At 28, Areola is still yet to reach his prime.
