West Ham are keen to sign Aberdeen right-back Calvin Ramsay in January according to a report from The Scottish Sun.

We have to say though, this report makes little sense to us.

Hammers boss David Moyes has a wealth of right-back options coming through the ranks at the London Stadium.

Harrison Ashby, 19, and Ben Johnson, 21, are both incredibly highly rated at West Ham.

The young Hammers duo have everything needed to go on and become top class Premier League players.

Alleged West Ham interest in Calvin Ramsay makes no sense

Now, this is nothing against the 18-year-old Scot.

He is a fine young player in his own right.

Ramsay has made 18 senior appearances for Aberdeen already and has chalked up five assists in the process.

The issue we have with the report is that Moyes surely won’t be looking to sign another young right-back with two future stars already at the club in that particular position.

The addition of one or two left-backs should certainly supersede the need for another right-back.

Ramsay is a fine young player. He’s quite simply not needed at the London Stadium at the moment, however.
