West Ham United reportedly have a prime transfer target in mind to replace Nayef Aguerd in January.
Nayef Aguerd has been heavily linked with an exit from West Ham in the January transfer window, and it has been alleged that staff at the London Stadium are surprised that the owners are willing to sell him.
I have to say, I’m not surprised one little bit that the 27-year-old could leave, and if Hammers boss David Moyes replaces him with a top-class centre-back, I think we’ll be stronger as a team going forward.
Aguerd possesses exceptional recovery pace but that’s about it in my opinion. He makes far too many mistakes, mostly brought about by his poor positional awareness and decision making.
If we manage to get £30 million or more for him, it will be a good deal for us as far as I’m concerned. We paid that fee to prise him away from Rennes in the summer of 2022 (The Sun).
One player who could replace the Morocco international is Jonathan Tah – someone who Moyes has performed several scouting missions on, and the 27-year-old is apparently the man who the Scot has settled on as his prime target this month (Evening Standard)…

West Ham eye Nayef Aguerd replacement
The Standard reckon that Tah is the first choice target for the Hammers to replace Aguerd, if the Moroccan is indeed moved on this month.
Aguerd out and Tah in would be great business for West Ham – the German is a far better defender than the 27-year-old is.
The Bayer Leverkusen ace has the physicality needed to succeed in the Premier League, and he would be a very solid addition to Moyes’s ranks.
Standing at 6ft 5in tall, Tah is aerially dominant and defends with real tenacity and aggression. He would be a huge upgrade on Aguerd as far as I’m concerned but would also be the perfect long-term replacement for Kurt Zouma.
The sooner that West Ham can sell Nayef Aguerd and replace him with Jonathan Tah the better it will be for us. Prising the German away from the Bundesliga leaders this month will be a difficult task though, that goes without saying.
