West Ham owners GSB and Daniel Kretinsky have been invited to dinner by new Chelsea chief Todd Boehly and it could hold the Armando Broja key.

West Ham are still trying to convince Chelsea to sell Broja this summer despite the imminent signing of Gianluca Scamacca.

The Italian should be officially unveiled in the next 24 hours or so pending a successful medical and spoke his first words about signing for West Ham last night.

According to a report form The Athletic, Hammers boss David Moyes is still keen to get his hands on Chelsea striker Broja.

Last week Thomas Tuchel said that he did not expect Broja to leave Chelsea this summer.

But the German did not completely slam the door on West Ham’s hopes, admitting he would be having a meeting with Blues owner Boehly and the player before making a final decision on the Albanian’s future.

“I don’t expect him to leave,” Tuchel said last week (Sky Sports).

“I’m aware of the offers and aware of the interest.

“We will make a decision together, the owner and me and the player.”

Well now it seems West Ham may well have the chance to launch a charm offensive behind enemy lines so to speak.

Because West Ham owners GSB and Kretinsky have been invited to dinner by new Chelsea chief Boehly and it could hold the Broja key.

The Athletic claims Boehly has organised an informal dinner with his Premier League counterparts this evening.

West Ham co-owners David Sullivan, Kretinsky, David Gold and vice-chairman Karren Brady have been invited.

It is not clear whether West Ham’s board have accepted the invite or whether one or all intend to attend.

But The Athletic claims the invitation has been very well received by Chelsea’s Prem rivals.

The Hammers would be wise to take up the offer, though, as it would give them direct access to Boehly, who has been leading Chelsea’s negotiations in this transfer window.

“New Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has organised an informal dinner with his Premier League counterparts,” The Athletic reports.

“Executives from the 20 top-flight clubs will gather in London on Tuesday for their latest shareholders’ meeting, with Boehly’s event to follow that evening.

“Not all of those invited by the American businessman are able to attend, but the gesture is said to have been well received by the group.”

As it is an informal dinner there would be ample opportunity for West Ham’s higher-ups to have a frank discussion about Broja with the Chelsea chief, even if they may be asked some unwelcome questions about Declan Rice for next summer in return.

West Ham would then at least know exactly where they stand over Broja and whether it is worth pursuing any longer.
