The Hammers have been very shaky defensively over the past three games.

Angelo Ogbonna is out for the season whilst Kurt Zouma won’t be back in action for at least another month.

Craig Dawson has stepped up for West Ham but Issa Diop quite simply isn’t good enough for elite level football.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

Signing a top-class striker would have been Moyes’s priority a month or so ago. It seems as though that may well have changed now though.

West Ham manager David Moyes provides big January transfer window update

The transfer window is now open and the Hammers absolutely have to act if we are to finish inside the top four this season.

West Ham are still in desperate need of a centre-forward but it seems as though Moyes’s priorities lie elsewhere.

The Scot provide a January transfer window update when speaking to Football.London last night:

“A defender is in our priorities but if we get Kurt [Zouma] back quite quickly it might alter it. Trying to get what we want and what we like and someone in is not easy but if I can get someone in I will do as I do not want to be left short again. It would only take one more injury and we are back to the same situation. Unfortunately, because Angelo [Ogbonna] is out for the season it has made things a little bit thin. It is very rare when you have four centre-halves at the club that two of them get injured so that is quite rare. But let’s be fair the two we have got are doing a decent job for us and we need to give them a bit more help as well.”

West Ham have already been linked with a plethora of centre-backs including the likes of Liverpool ace Nat Phillips (Evening Standard), Manchester City star Nathan Ake (Eurosport) and Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic (Calciomercato.it).

Signing a new centre-back this month will be absolutely vital.

Let’s hope that Moyes doesn’t lose sight of just how much West Ham need a top-class centre-forward as well though.

Signing a striker will be equally as important as bringing a central defender in. And if we manage to strengthen in those two positions, 2022 could be a very good year for the Hammers.
