The Hammers faced the Eagles at Selhurst Park in a game that was an absolute must win.

Arsenal lost earlier in the day whilst Tottenham won with a 96th minute winner at Watford.

Ben Johnson was a standout performer for the Hammers at left-back.

David Moyes obviously has huge faith in the 21-year-old. Johnson is a right-back by trade but is being used as a left-back in the absence of Aaron Cresswell.

Before that, he was keeping Vladimir Coufal out of the side. West Ham really do have an unbelievable young talent on our hands at the London Stadium.

The young London-born ace proved just how good he once again today against Palace at Selhurst Park.

Not only did he defend admirably but he also offered us a great outlet down the left hand flank from an attacking perspective.

West Ham fans rave about Ben Johnson display against Crystal Palace

The 21-year-old is has now firmly established himself as a vitally important player for the Hammers. When everyone is fit there is a genuine case to be made for him to be in the starting XI week in, week out.

That is quite the statement considering his age.

Johnson was actually replaced at half-time but that wasn’t because of his performance. It was either because the youngster picked up a knock or Moyes was worried about the fact that he picked up a booking.
