West Ham look set to miss out on exciting target Fabio Carvalho as Liverpool swoop in with bid according to widespread reports.
Talented winger-cum-wide forward Carvalho has been a revelation for Fulham in the Championship this season and has reportedly attracted the attention of both West Ham and Liverpool.
The 19-year-old has scored seven goals and laid on four assists in 18 appearances and also has a brilliant average match rating of 7.28 (WhoScored).
Carvalho is out of contract at Fulham at the end of the season, meaning either West Ham or Liverpool could stand to get the exciting youngster for a paltry tribunal fee if they wait until the summer.
But West Ham and Liverpool have been linked with bids of around £5m this month to secure Carvalho’s services before then.
The Hammers had looked like they might have the edge over Liverpool in the race for the Lisbon-born England youth international.
West Ham look set to miss out on exciting target Fabio Carvalho as Liverpool swoop in with bid
A recent report from The Sun claimed a boardroom beef between Fulham and Liverpool over Harvey Elliott meant David Moyes may have a chance of beating Jurgen Klopp to the young star.
There appears to be bad news for West Ham this evening, though, as widespread reports from the likes of The Athletic, This Is Anfield and The Liverpool Echo state Liverpool have swooped to make an official offer to Fulham for Carvalho.
“Liverpool are looking to do a deal with Fulham to sign Fabio Carvalho before the transfer window closes,” The Liverpool Echo reports.
“The Reds are one of several clubs who have been keeping tabs on the England youth international during a campaign that has seen him register eight times in 17 games for Marco Silva’s Championship leaders.
“Carvalho is out of contract in the summer and the ECHO understands Liverpool are looking to bring him to Anfield before Monday night’s 11pm deadline.”
West Ham may still have a glimmer of hope as The Echo claims the Reds will “refuse to pay over the odds”.
So if West Ham are serious about landing Carvalho they may be able to trump Liverpool with a more attractive offer.
The money certainly seems to be there at West Ham right now if weekend reports linking the world and its wife with moves to east London are anything to be believed.
