West Ham lodge bid for Junior Firpo Italian journalist claims

West Ham have made an official bid for Barcelona left-back Junior Firpo according to Sport Italia journalist Rudy Galetti.

Left-back is a department at the London Stadium where David Moyes will be keen to strengthen this summer, albeit not a priority for the Scot.

Aaron Cresswell is on the wrong side of 31 whilst Arthur Masuaku is better suited to the wing-back role.

It could be argued that both of those players are capable covering the left-back spot for next season at least, however.

It seems as though David Moyes may be making moves to address that particular department of his squad already though.

West Ham make official Firpo bid

That’s according to Rudy Galetti – a journalist for Sport Italia:

The offer from the Hammers is said to be an ‘important’ one.

There is a problem, however. Firpo allegedly wants to play Champions League football next season and would prefer a move to AC Milan this summer.

Firpo would be a very useful addition for West Ham. And his reported asking price of just £13 million (Calcio Mercato) will certainly appeal to Moyes and the club’s owners.

It could be argued that signing a left-back this summer isn’t one of Moyes’s top three priorities, however.

Perhaps if Firpo really does want to join AC Milan, we should just let him. There are plenty more top class left-backs out there for West Ham to peruse over during the upcoming campaign.
