The Hammers made a £23 million bid for the Fiorentina centre-back during last summer’s transfer window according to a report from Gianluca Di Marzio.

And our alleged interest in the 23-year-old has continued to be reported by various outlets since then.

Calcio Mercato most recently linked West Ham with a move to sign the Serbia international just a few days ago.

And now a further update has been provided by another Italian media outlet.

West Ham linked Nikola Milenkovic a man in demand

La Nazione (relayed by Fiorentina Uno) claims that an unnamed club have lodged a €16 million (£14 million) bid for the 23-year-old.

That is allegedly nowhere near how much the Italian side want for Milenkovic, however.

The thing is, La Viola are going to have to be careful with their demands for the centre-back.

The Serb will be out of contract in Florence in just 12 months time. So they could risk losing him for absolutely nothing. That would obviously be a disaster.

Perhaps some common ground can be found.

Somewhere around £15-20 million for the 23-year-old defender would be a fair price for both Fiorentina and West Ham.

David Moyes should be going all out to sign Milenkovic this summer, he really is that good.

Whether the Hammers board back the Scot to the hilt in the summer transfer window remains to be seen, however.
