West Ham United are just £5million away from hitting Burnley’s asking price for defender James Tarkowski.
Two West Ham stars vying to break major record this season
West Ham have been heavily linked with the England international since selling Grady Diangana to West Bromwich Albion for £20million last week.
West Ham have reportedly seen bids of £25million and £30million rejected by the Clarets (Evening Standard).

Reports claimed Burnley wanted £50m after West Ham knockbacks
Some reports had claimed Burnley will not sell for any less than Tarkowski’s £50m release clause (Sky Sports).
But a ‘recruitment source’ has told Football Insider that Burnley will accept a bid from West Ham if they can raise it by another £5m to £35m.
Football Insider claims Tarkowski would welcome the move to what he sees as a more ambitious club.
And a big pay hike is also said to be greasing the wheels of a potential move.

Hammers just £5m off hitting Tarkowski asking price – source
“A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Burnley have made it clear they have a firm price in mind for Tarkowski and that is around the £35m mark,” Football Insider claims.
“The Lancashire outfit wanted £50m for the 27-year-old before the pandemic and lockdown changed the face of football’s finances.
“Tellingly, Tarkowski is said to be keen on a move to what he sees as a more ambitious club. He has two years left on his contract and wants to establish himself at international level.
“A move would guarantee the centre-back a big pay hike as well as a major new challenge.”
That will come as a major boost for David Moyes who is desperate for new recruits ahead of the new season.

Major morale boost for West Ham if they can snare England defender
It would also massively boost morale in and around West Ham. That’s after The Athletic claimed the Diangana sale left the club atmosphere like that of a funeral.
West Ham are currently the only club not to bring in any new faces so far this summer.
Co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold have pleaded poverty due to the global health crisis.
That has angered fans, particularly as every other Premier League club has now made signings with spending edging close to £800m today – read the full story here.
