West Ham United playmaker Manuel Lanzini has been linked with a return to the Middle East and a move to Turkish side Fenerbahce.

West Ham striker target blasted for sulking to force transfer

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Turkish giants Fenerbahce have made a move to sign Lanzini.

The 27-year-old Argentine has struggled for form and fitness since suffering a serious injury before the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Lanzini linked with Middle East return and Turkey move

David Moyes has lost faith in the midfielder and Lanzini, who earns £100k-a-week at the London Stadium (Football.London).

As a result the player once known as West Ham’s ‘little jewel’ is up for sale to help raise cash so Moyes can bring in new signings (ExWHUemployee).

Fenerbahce are not the only club being linked with Lanzini, though.

West Ham originally snapped the Argentine up from Arab Emirates side Al Jazira Club.

And reports emerged last night that Lanzini had agreed terms to return to the the Middle East with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.

Saudi Sky Sport claimed on Twitter that Lanzini had ‘agreed terms’ with the club and all that remained was for West Ham to settle on a fee with Al Nassr.

West Ham insiders deny claims

But the reliable ExWHUemployee and fellow West Ham insiders Claret & Hugh both delivered emphatic verdicts on those reports overnight.

The club have “no knowledge” of any such deal for Lanzini from Saudi Arabia,” ExWHUemployee said on Twitter.

“No contact has been made with the club so far.

“Well unless I speak to Lanzini I can’t prove either way but this is one of my best sources on transfers. Not sure why they would lie. Could be the player spoke to the club but certainly there’s been no approach to us.”

Ex also weighed in on the rumours of Fenerbahce’s interest, claiming reports of an offer were also not true.

“There was no offer to reject,” ExWHUemployee said in response to a post saying Fener’s Lanzini bid had been knocked back by West Ham.

Claret and… Not True

Another Hammers insider, Claret & Hugh’s Sean Whetstone, also rubbished the claims.

“Club are not aware of any offers for Lanzini and have not received contact from any club including the ones named in reports Turkey and Saudi Arabia,” Whetstone said on his West Ham Football Twitter account.

“Possibly agents playing games but club is in the dark.”

Some fans had expressed their disappointment citing improved performances from Lanzini in pre-season.

Others were excited at the prospect of shipping out a player they believe has long been a busted flush in the hope of bringing in much needed new signings.

They say there is no smoke without fire. But that is in fact often the case during a football transfer window.

It remains to be seen whether anyone would be willing to take on Lanzini’s big salary AND pay a transfer fee to West Ham.

Hope yet as Sky Sports claim West Ham are in the hunt for a striker
