West Ham United allegedly could try to sign Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette on a free transfer in the summer.
That’s according to club insiders Claret and Hugh who claim that David Moyes could explore the free agent market in the summer transfer window.
Michail Antonio is currently the only recognised senior centre-forward at the London Stadium and he isn’t even a natural striker!
Moyes obviously has to address that in the summer. Our current situation is quite frankly inexcusable considering the fact that we are trying to compete in the Premier League and on the continent.
Signing a proven goalscorer in the summer will be at the very top of the Scot’s priority list. West Ham have been linked with at least 40 or 50 strikers since Sebastien Haller was moved on to Ajax in January 2021.
It could be argued that the Hammers actually need to sign two centre-forwards in the summer. Perhaps Moyes will make a marquee signing as well as bringing in a cheaper option.
West Ham eyeing potential move for Arsenal striker Lacazette
Hammers insiders Claret and Hugh reckon that the 30-year-old Gunners hitman is on the Hammers’ radar ahead of the summer transfer window.
Lacazette will be out of contract at The Emirates before the start of next season so will be available on a. free transfer.
He has six goals and eight assists in 32 games for Arsenal to his name this season (Transfermarkt).
And with his time in north London set to come to an end, we think he would be a strong addition for West Ham.
The 30-year-old has been described as ‘unplayable’ at times by the Mirror.
The Arsenal ace could play alongside Michail Antonio, just behind him in the number 10 role or in place of the 32-year-old Hammers forward.
The way in which Lacazette links up play and holds up the ball makes him the perfect addition for West Ham this summer, especially on a free transfer.
He has incredible tight ball control in and around the penalty area and is great at finding his way out of crowded spaces.
The former Lyon ace is an unbelievably gifted technician and would undoubtedly help West Ham take our attacking play to another level entirely.
The one caveat to all of that is that West Ham absolutely must sign an elite centre-forward as well as Lacazette, if we are to challenge for major honours next season.
If Arsenal ace Lacazette is the only centre-forward signing West Ham make, there will be plenty of angry Hammers fans, that’s for sure.
